Founder, Executive Director

Mark Hendel, MSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of Ability Senior Care. Mark's dedication and passion for working with the elderly was shaped by his upbringing. He was raised in a multi-generational household with two handicapped grandparents. Mark brings a deep and personal understanding of the physical, emotional and financial challenges that can overwhelm seniors and their families.

Mark has dedicated his career to helping seniors confronting placement. He earned his Masters Degree of Social Work from The  University of New York at Stony Brook after graduating from The  University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has worked as a Medical Social Worker in many facets of the healthcare field including Hospital Case Management, Hospice, Home Health Social Work, and as an ALTCS Case Manager.

Mark continues to earn the respect and trust of Arizona's healthcare professionals through his leadership of Ability Senior Care. He has been married to his wife, Stefanie, for twenty years and has two children. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with his family. Robert Fredson

Placement Specialist

Robert Fredson has been involved in the healthcare field for over 30 years. After graduating with his B.A. from Eastern Michigan University, Robert relocated from Detroit to Boston and spent 10 years working in medical sales. He then moved to Los Angeles where he worked for Pacificare’s HMO and METLIFE’s PPO and HMO Network. In 1987, Robert came to Phoenix, AZ where he has continued his career in healthcare including spending the past five years in the area of Assisted Living and Memory Care.​

Karen Canady

Placement Specialist Assistant

Karen Canady is our Placement Specialist Assistant. Karen has over 4 years of experience working in case management for mental health. She has worked as a Legal Secretary for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for 7 years. Her background in assisting clients through the process of their care, attending training seminars and conferences, and her caring compassionate attitude towards individuals has helped her become successful with assisting the people we serve. Karen is a native of Arizona. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her kids, attending their football and soccer games, hiking and trying new restaurants.​

Stefanie Hendel

Director of Operations

Stefanie Hendel is a graduate of The University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has extensive experience in eldercare. As the co-founder of Ability, Stefanie has been instrumental in developing the systems and practices that have led to our highly respected reputation within the healthcare community. Stefanie's keen eye is focused on the details, as our internal operations are maintained above the highest standards. Stefanie has been married to her husband, Mark, for twenty years and has two beautiful sons. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, reading, and supporting the arts. Her commitment to excellence ensures our clients will always receive exceptional services.
